Welcome to Stilligan's Island

Still's Disease is a rare and often misunderstood disease which
strikes both children and adults

What is Still's disease?

Still's disease is a form of arthritis that is characterized by high spiking fevers and evanescent (transient) salmon-colored rash. Still's disease was first described in children, but it is now known to occur, much less commonly, in adults (in whom it is referred to as adult-onset Still's disease).

What are symptoms and signs of Still's disease?

Patients with Still's disease usually present with systemic (body wide) symptoms. Extreme fatigue can accompany waves of high fevers that rise  to 104 degrees F (41 degrees C) or even higher and rapidly return to normal levels or below. A faint salmon-colored skin rash characteristically comes and goes and usually does not itch (picture of the Still's rash).

The International Still's Disease Foundation was founded in the spring of 1999.  We wanted to bring together those who have been diagnosed with Still's Disease and provide them with support, information, and a chance to meet others with this disease

Our founder, Tom Kufahl, created a mailing list for those with Still's Disease to communicate.  It has become the "heart" of our support group.  We encourage you to subscribe to the mailing list.  From there you will be able to email every person on the mailing list.  It is a wonderful source of support and information for those who are newly diagnosed.  It gives you a way to ask questions, tell your story, or if you need a friend.

Hi all;
It's time for our annual conference in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Orleans Hotel and Casino.

Our speaker this year will be Dr. Gary Jorgensen on Monday the 25th and he will speak on coping skills for living with chronic illness and depression.

The Orleans has offered us 30 rooms for $60.00 per night plus 9% room tax.  An additional 4 rooms will be available for Saturday the 23rd for 120.00 for the night.  They usually do not accept Saturday check in's so this was all that was available to us.

The rooms are for single or double occupancy with one king or two queen size beds.  The hotel offers smoking and non smoking rooms and is a newer hotel with lots of casino activities, restaurants, coffee shops, gift shop, theater and bowling.  A free bus to the Vegas strip, spa and spa services, swimming pools and lots more.  You also get a free coupon book and greeting gifts.

Many airlines offer frequent low cost round trip flights to Vegas if you book early.  Southwest offers some of the best prices and can be found at SouthwestAirlines@mail.southwest.com

This conference is without a doubt one of the most empowering opportunities members of our organization have to deal with Stills Disease and the countless ways it effects our lives, you will make some of the best life long friends you have ever had!

Sunday we meet and greet others.  Monday is conference day where we meet, have our speaker and then our gifts for donations give away and then Tuesday we visit and some go home.  There will be a schedule of times of events in the coming weeks.

The number to call for the room reservations at the Orleans Hotel and Casino is 1-800-675-3267 during open hours of (Monday - Friday between 7:00AM and 11:00PM - Pacific Time / Saturday & Sunday between the hours of 9:00AM and 5:00PM - Pacific Time.

You MUST identify yourself as attendees of the INTERNATIONAL STILLS CONFERENCE in order to obtain a room reservation under the above-mentioned block.  Without this identification, you will not be quoted your special group rate and may be told they are sold out.

At the time the reservation is made, you will be asked to provide a major credit card or send a deposit for the first nights room and tax.  If a credit card is utilized, it will automatically be charged first night's room and tax.

The cut-off date for your room block is 08/23/06.  Any reservations received after this date will be accepted on a "space available" basis.  To ensure space availability, please call in a timely manner.

Each room must be occupied by at least one adult, 21 years of age or older.

Cancellations on individual room reservations will be accepted up to 72 hours prior to the check in time of 4 p.m. on the scheduled date of arrival with no penalty fee.  However, any individual who cancels their reservation after this cut-off will be responsible for one night's room and room tax.

So, I know this is a lot of information but if I have left anything to questions please feel free to email me at mellymelt@netzero.net  This information will also be posted at the International Stills Disease web page.  www.stillsdisease.org
