Year of Onset of Stills or diagnosis: I think the
onset started around winter of 1995
Diagnosis: Winter of 2000
Other Health Problems: Fibromyligia
Meds: currently I am taking prednisone,
Zoloft, colchicine, celebrex, antitriptylene
Surgeries due to Stills: I haven't had
any surgeries after being diagnosed, but I
feel that my hysterectomy and 12 bladder
surgeries have triggered off my Stills.
Occupation: I am an owner and partner in
a family business. We own a small shopping
center in Norwich, CT and we have a large
Retail store. I have worked with my father
for 22 years and I wouldn't change it for
anything.
Family: I have two incredible parents,
Joe & Lois. They support me very much
and they are always there for me. I couldn't
be blessed with better parents. I also have
a brother named Michael who lives near me
as well. As for my family..I have three
beautiful boys..Joshua, Zachary and King
Kong...our Great Dane! My boys are very
supportive and understanding of my Stills.
Hobbies: I think when I was younger, I had
more hobbies, and I felt better. I used to
ride horses all the time and grew up with them.
I miss it very much, but my Stills prevents me
from riding. I love to garden or just work in
my yard. The neighborhood calls me
"THE LAWN RANGER". I also like my quiet
times. I like to walk and just enjoy quiet
evenings at home with my children. Sunday
is a "family" day for me and it's my favorite
day of the week.

Having Still's Disease has changed my life so much over the past year and a half. Not only physically,but emotionally and psychologically. The relationships that I had with my family has only been strengthened by this challenging experience. I found out that the people that I thought were my real friends turned out to be superficial and selfish people. Others, that I least expected to so supportiveÊhave helped me so much during the long, tough and painful days have been sensational. I know know myself so much better than before the onset of Stills. I no longer take the same "crap" that people feel they can give me. I think that after everything I've been through over the past year I deserve a lot better, which has really helped me to be more assertive. I am however, more impatient with people, especially when they tell me that they are feeling sick and all they have is a runny nose!!
I miss exercising the most. I use to be a gym junkie and go running of an evening, dancing till 3 in the morning wasn't uncommon.
I'm very optomistic about the future, however, I have just come to realise that I am never going to make a full recovery and be the same person I was 2 years ago. This has been a very difficult realisation but with the help of everyone around me and this site I know I'll get there!

Family: Monte is my husband. He is incredibly understanding and supporting of me. We will be married 18 years this July. Brennan is my 13 year old daughter who is really involved in acting and drama. She is fabulous at it. Drew is my 11 year old son who is 100% boy, yet takes the time to make sure his mother doesn't over do it. Ellie is our eight year old golden retriever. I don't know what we would do without her.
