Still’s Disease Awareness Day

The Year of the Dragon

This day was established originally by the International Still’s Disease Foundation (ISDF) to raise awareness for Still’s Disease. Upon their dissolve on September 7th, 2017, IFAA was asked to house their programs and resources. We proudly accepted and now we are the official Hosts of this awareness initiative.
The slogan for the event is “The Year of the Dragon.” For too long, those living with Still’s – and their families – have experienced delays in detection and diagnosis because early symptoms and clinical disease features are unknown both to the public and to the medical community.  Furthermore, as a rare disease, treatments are typically “borrowed” from similar AiArthritis diseases.  There is a need to raise awareness about the disease itself and why more research is needed.
Let’s make September 7th the first day of a year-long effort to bring awareness to this disease!

Ways you can raise awareness for Still’s Awareness Day:

Wear Red.  Put on your red and if anyone asks you why you are wearing red, or compliments you on your outfit, use that as an opportunity to tell them about Still’s Disease.

Wear Red AND take a Photo. Post it on social media using hashtag #StillsAwareness. Add a statement why awareness is important to you.

Global Ribbon Parade. With no official ribbon for Still’s Disease, many have designed their own. Colors include variations of red, black, and yellow. Like the disease, they are unique to their owners. Post your awareness ribbon on social media with hashtag #StillsAwareness and share all you see.

Participate in Research.  Help put the dragon to sleep for good!  IFAA and the National Data Bank for Rheumatic Diseases (NDB) have set up an Adult Onset Still’s Disease (AOSD) databank. Those diagnosed with AOSD can JOIN FOR FREE – your input can help researchers develop better treatments for this disease.  HERE.
