Novartis today announced that the FDA has approved canakinumab (Ilaris) for the treatment of active systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SJIA) in patients aged 2 years and older. NEW SUPPORT GROUP

ATHRITIS DAY 2013

The International Still’s Disease Foundation, Inc. has once again  joined in the 2nd Annual World Autoimmune Arthritis Day held online for 47 hours. It started at 6am ET/USA May 19th and will end at 5am ET/USA May 21st.

The theme for WAAD13 is “Start Talking: Addressing the Myths of Autoimmune Arthritis  Diseases”.  Examples include: “But you’re too young to have arthritis”,  ”But you  don’t look sick” and “But it’s ‘just’ arthritis”.

From EITC to certain expenses, tax credits and deductions can save people thousands of dollars; tax treatment of SSDI and other disability benefits are common areas of confusion.

There were two new article links posted on the research page today. One is about RA and how it can affect the eyes and another is about another RA medication that is also being used with Still’s patients, named Tofacitinib (Xeljanz). Sometimes we don’t have enough to share with a cash donation but do find we need or want to shop. Because of that we, here at the Still’s Disease Foundation, ask that when shopping online you use the donation page here at the site so that a percentage of whatever you spend at any of the sponsored stores will be donated to the Still’s Disease Foundation, Inc.  The donation sites can be used any time. At the donations page there are some individual sites and then another called I Give that has hundreds of stores. All you need to do is enter International Still’s Disease Foundation when checking into the sites. We ask you to do this for us as an additional way of giving while shopping at your favorite stores! Another reason to visit the online stores is to use the ones we often need for medical supplies and aids.

RECENT UPDATE 2013

Our donations have been few these last months, actually throughout the past year and the foundation is at a low point financially with expenses such as; printing and postage costs for free brochures, the videos coming to the site soon,  operating expenses, etc.

We do understand that finances are limited, especially for those with health related expenses, but are asking for those that do online shopping to go through the donations page as a way of sharing in extended giving.

All the donations that are sent are so appreciated and we thank those that do and are able to contribute, not just monetarily but with your support of others and helping in various ways.
